On the heels of its official announcement in Berlin today, Samsung has announced that it has partnered with Vodafone to offer the new Galaxy Tab Android-powered tablet. The Galaxy Tab is backed by the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and features full web browsing with Flash 10.1 support, a large and bright 7-inch touchscreen display, 3G and WiFi connectivity, HD video support as well as a forward and rear facing cameras, a speedy 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, and a battery that is expected to offer up to 7 hours of playback time.
“Vodafone’s aim is to offer all customers new and attractive ways to enjoy mobile data, on the move, across a variety of devices,” said Patrick Chomet, Group Director of Terminals at Vodafone. “Adding tablets as part of our device range is a natural next step that gives customers an alternative way to enjoy great content and internet services. The GALAXY Tab is another showcase for Samsung’s innovation capabilities and we’re pleased to be introducing this across a number of our markets”.
Pricing has not been announced at this time, but Vodafone expects that the device will be available from the majority of its European markets in October.
