It would have been great to see the price display with an official launch date, but perhaps that information will be on the next photograph! Oh yes, the third picture appears to be the Motorola webtop dock for the DROID Bionic.

Not everything is as it seems, from what we understand, the Motorola Droid Bionic is being delayed to get some special enhancements, no word on what these enhancements will entail, but if they make the Bionic a far better experience, then we welcome these enhancements with open arms. Motorola declined to say when we can expect to see the Droid Bionic on the market, but with competition heating up in the dual core smartphone market, it could be longer than you might think.

It would be really excellent to see the Motorola Droid Bionic with a better version of Motorola’s UI for Android, enhancements with regards to the CPU for less battery drainage. However, whatever the enhancements may bring, the Droid Bionic should come out blazing for the top spot.

You can get the update on your Motorola Droid Pro by hitting the Systems buttons and going to “System update” for an over-the-air update.

While it’s not a major update, you will get:

• Improved audio on voice calls.
• Improved stability and performance.
• User interface display now refreshes when user switches from GSM/UMTS communication to Global Mode.
• Device now prepends 011 to Country Code to send SMS messages.
• Global Mode no longer resets when connecting to a USB charger.
• Visual Voice Mail now detects airplane mode while Wi-Fi is active.
• Prompt return to full screen brightness after wake-up.
• Upgraded Bluetooth firmware.
• Improved interoperability with Microsoft Internet Application Gateway (IAG) configurations.
• Device string format for Exchange changed to include device name and version number.
• Upgrade to Google applications Release 7.

Other Improvements:

• Improved audio during voice calls.
• Reduced user interface lock-ups.

Of course, the real question is: where is Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the Motorola Droid Pro and the company’s other devices? Even the high-powered Atrix 4G is running Froyo and, while that’s not a bad version of the platform by any means, many users want the latest version of the software now.

Android 2.3 Gingerbread hit in December of 2010 and you have to wonder if Google should work with its partners more to get these updates out earlier. We should see devices like the Xperia Arc land with Gingerbread but we may actually see the next version of Android at Google I/O before that hits U.S. shelves.

Sporting a bigger screen but less memory that the Motorola ATRIX on AT&T, the DROID BIONIC is a high-end device which will probably find itself competing head-on with whatever next-generation iPhone Apple have up their sleeves.

Like the ATRIX, the DROID BIONIC has a quarter HD “qHD” 960 x 540 pixel display, but in this case it is a large 4.3″ panel, which is 50% larger than the iPhone 4. Although the very high resolution “retina” display on the iPhone 4 does have a 15% higher pixel count than the Motorola, the DROID BIONIC is easily better than most of the rest of the competition.

Dual core technology is something that Apple cannot match at the moment, although there will almost definitely be an upgrade to the iPhone 4 this year which may incorporate it. Internal memory is a generous 512MB of RAM, although at the moment we do not know how much flash memory the DROID BIONIC comes with.

On the back is an 8 megapixel primary camera with a secondary front-facing camera for video calling. The DROID BIONIC is capable of HD video capture and playback, and it also comes with a built-in HDMI port.

Motorola haven’t said which version of Android the DROID BIONIC will ship with, but the Adobe Flash capabilities mean that it must be at least Android 2.2.

This is a LTE-enabled “4G” device, giving access to Verizon’s newly launched high-speed network. There aren’t many 4G handsets around at present, and LTE support certainly gives the DROID BIONIC another advantage over its Apple rival.

Verizon is a key market for Motorola in the US. Currently there is no version of the iPhone for this network, so a large proportion of smartphones sold on Verizon are Motorola DROID series devices. In many respects the DROID BIONIC leapfrogs Apple’s popular handset, but we expect to see an announcement from Apple about future iPhone developments in the next few months.

Therefore we’re not really surprised to see giant retailers like Amazon or Best Buy sell the smartphone for a lot less, although the new prices are only available when signing a new deal with Verizon for two more years.

Amazon is selling the Motorola Droid Pro for just $19.99 while Best Buy will ask you to pay $49.99 for the same Android 2.2 handset. The Motorola Droid is definitely a great smartphone and happens to be the first Motorola-made Android machine to combine a full touchscreen display and a full, portrait, QWERTY keyboard.

Our Indian readers always ask us that when the Droid X is coming to India, and it looks like that the Droid X is about to hit India.Rumors are on the street that Motorola is launching the Droid X in India, but not as Droid X because it’s Verizon branding. If Motorola is launching it in India, then it will be known as Milestone X or Motoroi X. It’s rumored that the device will hit India later this month, and the rumored launch date is 25th November. The Droid X features 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display, 8MP camera with dual LED flash on the back, Android 2.2, 1GHz processor and a lot of other goodness. So our Indian fellows, it’s just a rumor so take it with a grain of salt. We’ll try our best to keep you updated.

The DROID 2 Global offers many of the features of the DROID 2, including the slide-out QWERTY design, but it also supports global 3G HSDPA/HSUPA networks. Under the hood, it’s powered by a faster 1.2GHz processor, too.

Other features include a 3.7-inch 854 x 480 pixel touchscreen display, a 5 megapixel camera, 3G hotspot support, and more.

The Motorola DROID 2 Global is available now from Verizon Wireless for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in-rebate and with a new 2-year contract.

The DROID PRO is a global handset  and will support voice calling and data in over 200 countries worldwide. Targeting the business-minded customer (cough, cough, BlackBerry users looking to defect), Verizon’s latest Android offering also includes enterprise-level features including Exchange-based remote device management, complex password support, data encryption (available in 2011), remote handset and SD card wipe, and on-device document editing courtesy of the Quick Office Mobile Suite.

The DROID PRO will be an excellent addition to Verizon Wireless’ already robust Android handset lineup. It will fit in nicely in between the Motorola DROID X and the DROID 2 and will offer some extra enterprise features the other two handsets lack. The DROID PRO also distinguishes itself with a portrait QWERTY keyboard that may entice some potential DROID 2 customers to reconsider their handset choice.

With its unique form factor, it will be interesting to see how Motorola manages that delicate balance of usable touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard. With all that hardware packed into a non-sliding form factor, it would be very easy to make the handset too long to use comfortably. I will give Motorola the benefit of the doubt as the American manufacturer has designed some rock solid Android handsets in the past year. Let’s see if they can continue this trend with the DROID PRO.

This is a CDMA/EVDO device, so it won’t run on European GSM/UMTS networks.. however, the original DROID was quickly followed by a worldwide version, the Motorola Milestone, but we don’t know if Motorola intend to sell a worldwide version alongside the original Milestone and the upcoming XT720.
Although the DROID X looks very much like the original DROID, the display has increased in size to a huge 4.3″ touchscreen from 3.7″ while retaining the same 480 x 852 pixel resolution. Inside is a 1GHz processor, which should be just as fast as anything else on the market. On the back is an 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, more of which later. This is a pure tablet style smartphone, and it doesn’t come with the slide-out QWERTY keyboard of the original DROID.. probably no great loss to be honest.

Shipping initially with Android 2.1, the DROID X will receive an over-the-air upgrade to Android 2.2 (“Froyo”) in the late summer. This new version of Android promises significantly improved performance, which is undoubtedly a good thing. There will also be a full version of Adobe Flash 10.1 available with the operating system upgrade, which will allow access to full Flash based multimedia.. but it may also make the Android platform vulnerable to security flaws.

The camera has autofocus and a dual LED flash in addition to its 8 megapixel resolution. The quoted rates for video capture are impressive as Motorola say that the DROID X is capable of 720p HD recording. It can also play back captured video via the built-in HDMI port or via DLNA.

Internal flash memory is a useful 8GB, plus a 16GB card in the standard sales package which can be swapped out for a much larger 32GB card if you want. The DROID X also comes with GPS, supports Google Maps and has turn-by-turn navigation.

Most types of multimedia are supported, and the DROID X also comes with Verizon’s new V CAST system which allows access to TV shows via the Verizon data network. The DROID X is a CDMA/EVDO 800/1900 MHz device with WiFi connectivity, so it won’t work on European GSM networks but it will work on wireless hotspots worldwide.
Android comes with a wide range of built in applications, including a web browser and email client and a range of preinstalled Google goodies. There’s a huge range of applications available from the Android Market too, many of which are free or very low cost.

It’s quite a large, heavy phone coming in at 155 grams (about 5.5 ounces) and 128 x 66 x 10mm (or 5.0 x 2.6 x 0.4 inches). In terms of size, it is partway between the original DROID and the new Dell Streak tablet. Talktime is quoted as being up to 8 hours with 9 days standby time.

If you live in the US, then you can pick the DROID X up from next month exclusively on the Verizon network for $200 when taken with an appropriate 2 year contract.

So far the Motorola Droid Shadow has appeared with Verizon branding and it will probably be an exclusive at launch. We of course expect to see a Motorola Milestone Shadow or something along those lines to appear at later stages.

The phone reportedly features a 4.3″ WVGA screen and an 8MP camera with 720p video recording. There should also be goodies like mini-HDMI port and 16GB (or 8GB depending on who you believe) internal memory.

The Motorola Droid Shadow supposedly has 512MB RAM and was first said to run on an OMAP 3630 CPU clocked at 720MHz. The Shadow uses Motorola’s MOTOBLUR UI, but we don’t know what that means for a Froyo update.

Anyway, rumor has it that the Motorola Droid Shadow was found in a corporate Verizon gym in Washington. The device was soon remotely locked but the guy that found it, managed to confirm the screen specs, the 16GB internal storage and the camera. He also said that the CPU was a Snapdragon.

What was left unconfirmed however was whether or not the Motorola Droid Shadow has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Previous rumors said there will be two devices – a Motorola Droid 2 with QWERTY and Motorola Shadow without.

The Droid Shadow is expected to be released in June or July, so we should know more about it by then.
