T-Mobile just announced the myTouch 3G Slide, a new Android powered smartphone that will join the myTouch family of smartphones on the carrier. This time around, however, the phone sports a full QWERTY keyboard.
The myTouch 3G Slide features a few enhancements, including a “Faves Gallery” that displays your 20 favorite contacts and all of the calls, texts, emails, IMs, and social networking updates you’ve exchanged. A myModes feature allows you to apply different themes to the phone that includes apps, widgets, and wallpapers, and T-Mobile sees this as a way to separate your work tasks from your fun ones. Finally, the Genius Button launches a voice-search application for controlling the phone or placing calls, writing a text message, or searching the web.
The phone is powered by Android 2.1 and has a 3.4-inch HVGA (320 x 480 pixel) touchscreen display. It measures 4.55in x 2.37in x 0.6in, weighs 5.8 ounces, and comes equipped with a 5 megapixel camera as well as the on-screen Swype keyboard for typing without the hardware QWERTY keyboard. Other hardware features include 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and a pre-installed 8GB microSD card.
The myTouch 3G Slide is expected to be available in June from T-Mobile USA in black, red, or white. Pricing has not yet been announced.
