Samsung is bringing a new device to the Chinese market – W609. What’s interesting about this all-touchscreen phone is that it can work both on GSM and CDMA networks, making it suitable for all mobile operators in the world’s most populous country.
Features include a 3.2-inch WQVGA (240×400 pixels) display, WiFi and 3G connectivity (though I’m not sure 3G works on both networks), 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS receiver, Bluetooth, 60MB of internal memory that is further expandable with microSD cards (up to 16GB). In terms of the pre-installed software, there’s an SOS app, e-dictionary, office documents viewer, media player and most likely some mapping software (with navigation?) and an HTML web browser.
The exact release date is unknown and we’ve also no idea whether the Korean company plans to introduce this baby to the other parts of the world. I know many people would appreciate a device that works on two different networks and in that sense I’m hoping Samsung folks are reading these lines.
