Michael Dell said yesterday that Dell Computers will launch an Android-powered smartphone in the U.S. in 2010, confirming the latest in a series of ongoing Dell rumors, mocoNews reports.
The famed entrepreneur called the handset a “starting point” for Dell devices in the U.S. and said that the company is considering additional emerging open platforms similar to Android.
Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal said that the company would launch an Android-powered device with AT&T, as we reported, though a carrier for this new device has not been confirmed.
In related news, Dell said that he believes laptops will continue to dominate netbook sales, as users suffer “disenchantment” with the smaller screen.
