Well, Android fans. As we know that HTC Desire HD is a GSM variant of HTC EVO 4G which is missing 4G, and it’s bound for UK. Vodafone 945 is a successor to Vodafone 845, which is also an Android powered handset, but a little old and need an update. So Vodafone 945 come out as an update with features like Android 2.1, a 3.2-inch WQVGA capacitive touchscreen, HSDPA, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, 5-megapixel camera with flash, and micro SD card support. The handset looks like a mid-end device, so may be it will go free on contract, and around $300 without contract. Vodafone is actually making these handsets for people who can’t afford handsets like Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire etc. So I hope this phone will be light on your budget.

However, the Nexus Ones that were bought from Vodafone are still stuck on Android 2.1 right now, even if Google officially released Android 2.2 Froyo for the Nexus One a good while ago.

Vodafone has announced that it will right this wrong during next week. The roll out will be over the air, but will not go to all phones at the same time, so as always with these things, be patient.

If you’re wondering why it took so long, the reason is that Vodafone apparently couldn’t help tweaking things here and there in Google’s new OS.

As such, the version of Android 2.2 that will be available for Vodafone’s Nexus Ones doesn’t have the Amazon MP3 store and Google Goggles in the ROM. They’ll both still be available for download in the Android Market.

Vodafone officials also warn users that by default, the WiFi tethering hotspot is set to open, so you’ll have to manually turn WPA on to secure it.

While this may be a late update, keep in mind that no other handset except the Nexus One has Android 2.2 available for it even now.

HTC, Motorola, Samsung and all the other phone manufacturers selling Android smartphones sure know how to take their time with these things.

Manufactured by Huawei, the Vodafone 845 will be powered by the latest Android 2.1 software, and will feature a 2.8-inch touchscreen display (QVGA resolution), a 3.2 mega-pixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi b/g connectivity, and support for triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 900/1800/1900 MHz as well as dualband UMTS/HSDPA at 900/2100 MHz.

Measuring just 100 x 55 x 13 mm, the Vodafone 845 is set to be one of the smalled Android handsets available.
Judging from the photos, the Vodafone 845 appears to support the Vodafone 360 service, although all the usual Gmail, Maps, and Market services will arrive pre-installed on the device.

No official word on a release date, but the handset is expected to launch in European Vodafone markets in Q2 2010.
Earlier this week it was revealed the European network Orange plan to launch their own budget Android handset, the Orange Boston, later this year.

Vodafone has decided if it can’t give us the iPhone for the holidays, it’ll do the next best thing and spill details of its launch and pricing of Apple’s finest. Available from January 14, the iPhone will be yours for £30 ($48) per month on two-year contracts, though up-front charges will set you back £239 ($386) for the 32GB 3GS variety. A monthly 1GB of 3G data is permitted, alongside unlimited WiFi, but what might be most interesting here is that Vodafone will allow you to use the iPhone as a modem. Such use will not be covered by your allowance of course, and will cost £5 ($8) for each 500MB downloaded, but we’re happy to see a carrier offering the option. Furthermore, though Vodafone’s agreement to carry the iPhone seemed a rushed defensive move, the company now claims it has been preparing its network for over a year to handle the increased traffic it expects.

Quick and dirty bit of news for you lovely subjects of the United Kingdom and independent spirits of Ireland: Vodafone’s online store is showing the much hailed N900 as an option, with handsets expected at some point next month. The Irish arm of the carrier had already admitted it’ll be offering the device, and we foresee the two launching the handset simultaneously early in the new year, with regrettably little competition from the other UK carriers. As Electric Pig reported when the N900 first started shipping, only O2 replied with a “not yet,” while Orange and T-Mobile were presumably too busy making out to respond.

Vodafone has made available the HTC HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5-powered touchscreen smartphone. The HTC HD2 includes an impressive 4.3-inch multi-touch capable capacitive touchscreen(INFO) display. HTC has also ported its HTC Sense UI from Android to the new Windows platform. The HD2 includes 3G and WiFi data connectivity, a 5.0 megapixel camera, and GPS functionality. The HD2 was originally announced in early October, as we reported.

The HTC HD2 is available now for free from Vodafone after a two-year customer agreement and a monthly plan of 35 GBP (US$58) or more.

BlackBerry Storm2 was officially announced by Vodafone, just hours after we saw it appearing in an official promo video.

Vodafone’s Storm2 (model name 9520) will be available in the following countries: UK, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy and South Africa.

According to this pre-order page, Vodafone UK will ship the Storm2 starting October 26.

As expected, the new Storm comes with a significantly improved SurePress technology, which should let you easily control the 3.25 inch, 360 x 480 pixels capacitive touchscreen display.
