According to @UVStaska’s tweet, Vertu had started to toy with the idea of using Symbian in their handsets, where the E72 inspired model in Vertu styling (the Vertu Constellation Quest) is an example. Now that Nokia has more or less dropped support for the Symbian operating system in their future higher-end models, what do you think the Vertu platform will rely on?

Perhaps Windows Phone might be an alternative, and if this is true, then we would be on the receiving end of a touchscreen-enabled Vertu – which is a first, in many ways. What do you think?

Inspired by the equally high-end Italian cars, the Vertu Ascent Ferrari GT has a body made made forged titanium with a matte black PVD finish. The black and red hand-sewn leather ornaments use the exact same leather as the Ferrari interiors. The list of design highlights continues with a ceramic battery cover and a side inspired by the famous Ferrari engine grill.

The rest of the features of the Vertu Ascent Ferrari GT are more down-to-earth and include a 2″ QVGA screen and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with a LED flash. There’s also 3G with HSDPA and A-GPS with navigation software and preoloaded maps. The Vertu trademark high-performance 11x15mm stereo speakers are also present.

Vertu will only create two thousand and eleven phones Ascent Ferrari GT units, but has so far not revealed their prices.

Perry Oosting, president of Vertu said that the company is witnessing year-on-year growth, when other brands are cutting down costs. The phone is made up of expensive materials like rubies, fine leather, gold and it is believed that South-East Asia will be one of the vital markets for the company as it enjoyed robust sales in Singapore.

Notably, it took the company three years to produce the phone and after much effort, the company got everything right for the phone. Meanwhile, Hutch Hutchison, head of concept creation and design of Vertu said  that Constellation Quest is an amalgam of looks and practicality. Mr Hutchison also added that Vertu will further improve the quality of its phone by undertaking constant R&D activities.

The Vertu Ascent X 5 megapixel camera will sport a LED flash and continuous autofocus(!). The 2″ 16M-color TFT display is the only thing that hasn’t been updated to modern standards. The specs on this thing definitely sound a lot like Nokia 6700 classic, which recently got a golden makeover.

Connectivity-wise, the Ascent X will pack support for quad-band 3G with HSDPA, Bluetooth v2.0 and should come with a built-in GPS receiver.

However, there is still no word on the materials it is made of and those are actually what make a Vertu phone special. Its price and launch date are unknown, too, but once we come upon more details on the Ascent X we’ll let you know, so stay tuned.

According to CrunchGear, “The occasion for these super-limited editions is the first anniversary of Vertu’s flagship store in GinzaGinza, Tokyo next month. Vertu plans to sell just four of these handsets worldwide.”

The specs of these handsets looks quite unimpressive. These phones are exclusively made from precious materials. Vertu will sell only one unit of each model worldwide. If you have enough bucks to buy this handset, then hurry up or else you will miss the golden opportunity to own one of these limited edition phones.

Vertu’s first clamshell phone is now official, it’s called Vertu Constellation F Ayxta and it will cost between €4,900 ($7,198) and €6,500 ($9,548) – probably depending on how you want to customize your model.

Like all phones made by Vertu, the Ayxta is made from expensive materials like stainless steel, ceramic, leather, sapphire crystal (for the display) and aerospace grade aluminum parts.

The new phone comes with GPS, 3G (HSDPA, apparently), MicroSD card support, 3MP camera with dual LED flash, and City Brief – a feature that provides “restaurant recommendations, the latest exhibitions, shopping guides and important cultural etiquette tips.” There are also some exclusive ringtones recorded by UK-based band Zero 7.

We have seen various cell phones in Vertu’s product catalogue over the years, all of them made from all manner of ultra-expensive materials you can imagine, but they all have something in common and this is one and the same candybar form factor. Perhaps, this is about to change though, because a recent rumor has it the manufacturer is working on a new model, called the Vertu Constellation F with the letter F standing for nothing else, but “Folding”. The handset will supposedly hit the shelves this fall and you will be able to get yourself one at the decent price of $7,770.
