Android-powered Pantech Vega X unveiled in South Korea; Features DDR2 memory

Pantech unveiled what seems as an awesome Android smartphone in South Korea – Vega X. Its awesomeness comes from few things:

* It comes with a large 4-inch WVGA touchscreen,
* There’s a 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 processor under the hood, and
* It rocks DDR2 memory which is said to be 1.5 faster than DDR1 (used in existing smartphones).

In addition, there’s also a 5-megapixel camera on board and I guess other “standard for Android” goodies like 3G and WiFi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth, sensors and so on.

The accent, as you can imagine, is put on the DDR2 memory. According to Pantech Vice President Lee Eung-joon, “When surfing the Internet, searching the Web, running applications or 3D games, its speed is so fast that it could threaten the existence of personal computers.”

And while I’m not sure it will threaten my PC for any time soon, I do applaud Pantech for experimenting with new technologies and can’t wait to try out the Vega X at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Unfortunately, that will most likely be the only chance to see it in action.

Pantech Crux touchscreen phone announced for Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless announced the Pantech Crux, a feature phone with a 3-inch touchscreen.

The Pantech Crux offers 1GB of storage, a music player with external control keys, a virtual QWERTY keyboard, and access to V CAST Music with Rhapsody. Its web browser supports HTML websites, too. An included social networking widget allows users to quickly update or check in on their friends on Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. The widget can also display news.

The Pantech Crux will launch for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate and with a new 2-year Verizon Wireless contract.

AT&T outs Pantech Laser, the thinnest full slider-QWERTY phone

AT&T announced the Pantech Laser, which it says is the thinnest device to sport a slider-QWERTY form factor.

The Laser comes equipped with a 3.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, a 3 megapixel camera, and more. The Laser has a unique application called the “Drawing Commander,” that lets users draw a shape on the screen to execute commands. For example, a user could draw one shape to place a call, or another to open their messaging inbox.

The Pantech laser will be available on AT&T on October 17 for $99.99 after a $50 mail in rebate. Stay tuned for more information.

AT&T Pantech Ease QWERTY touchscreen phone announced

Today AT&T and Pantech announced the Ease, a new messaging phone that’s targeted at wireless customers that want a simple and easy-to-use phone.

The Pantech Ease offers a 3.2-inch touchscreen, a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2 megapixel camera, easy to navigate menus, and even easy/advanced mode options depending on the user that’s operating the phone. Other features include a pedometer, a “readout mode” in which the phone will audibly announce callers, text messages, and more, and large fonts. The Pantech Ease operates on AT&T’s 7.2Mbps HSPA 3G network.

The Pantech Ease will be available online and in stores beginning on June 20th for $69.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate card and with a 2-year service agreement.

Pantech Breeze II: Breeze rebirth, or Breeze’ successor?

The Pantech Breeze II is now here to follow the original Pantech Breeze. The second Breeze was launched by AT&T, and comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera with video capture, dual-band 3G support, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, speakerphone, microSDHC card slot with support for 32GB cards, and an external display with touch sensitive media player controls.

The Pantech Breeze II will be for sale at various payment scheme –$169.99 with No Commitment, and $69.99 after 2 year subscription.

Pantech’s Sirius Sky smartphone does Android 2.1 on Snapdragon

One gigahertz is becoming the bar of entry in the world of Android, and the upcoming Sirius Sky from Pantech meets that with its Snapdragon processor. It’s also helped along by an Android 2.1 install and a 3.7-inch 800 x 480 OLED screen that does look rather vivid in the above shot — presumably taken indoors. 500MB of storage is offered internally by the phone while expandable memory bumps things up to 32GB, upon which pictures from the five megapixel camera can be stored for later mockery. The phone is said to be hitting Asian markets “pretty soon” and, while there are rumors of a US release, they’re sounding a bit unsubstantiated at this point.

Pantech lets out “therapeutic” telephone

The South Korean company Of pantech, which lets out on the native market cell phones under the commercial stamp SKY, represented the new model of folding telephone by the name “Therapy” (index of model – IM-U585S) that in the literal translation it indicates – “therapy”.

The therapeutic functions of telephone, from the words of producer, are connected with his possibilities in [tsvetoterapii] (i.e. by treatment by color). For these purposes is used the directly 2,9- one inch colored [ZHK]- display of telephone and 28 many-colored light-emitting diodes, located throughout entire keyboard. Furthermore, here there is the place 3 [MP] for camera and to the built-in digital TV receiver, which assumes ground-based programs in the size DMB.

Now available: Pantech Impact from AT&T

The Pantech Impact that was announced at CTIA has now just become available from AT&T. It has a touch keypad with vibrating feedback on the outside, and a QWERTY keypad and landscape display on the inside. It also has a 2 Megapixel camera, USB mass storage, e-mail and messaging, a personal organizer, a music player, speakerphone, voice dialing, a full HTML browser, as well as 3G support.

You should be able to get the Impact for $99.99 with a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate. If you want it without the contract, its about $250. By the way, it is available in blue or pink.

First announced by AT&T at the beginning of October, the Pantech Impact will be available starting this Sunday (22 November).

The Impact is a weird messaging phone, featuring a “high-gloss faceplate” with haptic-enabled keys, and a full QWERTY keyboard. The handset also has two displays: a small external one and a larger internal one.

Other features include 3G, GPS, music player, AT&T HTML mobile browser, photo camera, video recording, and easy access to IM and email.

Pantech Impact will be available from AT&T in bright blue and soft pink, for $99.99 with a 2-yr contract agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate.

Pantech Reveal messaging phone now available from AT&T

The Pantech Reveal is now available to AT&T customers in the U.S. The Reveal is a double keyboard-equipped slider handset that boasts both a numeric keypad and a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard for users looking a message-centric phone.

Other features found on the Pantech Reveal include fast 3G connectivity for browsing the web, voice-guided navigation with AT&T’s Navigator GPS system, a camera and video recorder, and Bluetooth wireless headset capability.

The Pantech Reveal is available now in red or blue for US$79, after a mail-in rebate and a two-year service agreement.
