About a month ago, we came across a rumor revealing the names of several handsets bound for Sprint, one of which was the Motorola Admiral. Little was known about the device back then, but the mystery is now slowly starting to unfold.

The Motorola Admiral has been leaked in the form of a spy photo revealing the device itself along with its specifications. It seems like we are dealing with a BlackBerry-esque device sporting a portrait QWERTY keyboard and support for Sprint’s Direct Connect network. What will allegedly tick under its hood is a Qualcomm MSM8655 chipset clocked at 1.2GHz, and a 3.1-inch VGA display will grace its front. Other goodies include a 5-megapixel camera with flash capable of shooting 720p video, a beefy 1860mAh battery, GPS, and Wi-Fi-hotspot functionality.

If that is not enough, the rumor adds that the Motorola Admiral runs Andorid 2.3 Gingerbread and is built to military specs (810G), which includes resistance to dust, shock, solar radiation and extreme temperatures.

Of course, you have to bear in mind that all of this is just a rumor and the Motorola Admiral has never been unveiled officially. However, it is shaping up to be a pretty impressive blend between a smartphone and a rugged phone, at least on paper. If the Admiral is a handset that you might consider buying if it ever sees the light of day, feel free to drop a comment below and let us know.

Since being introduced to an unwary public back at CES in January, the Motorola DROID Bionic has us playing a game similar to “Where’s Waldo?” or “Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?” But now, after all these months of blurry pictures, rumors and innuendo, even finding a picture of the DROID Bionic at Citi Field where the Mets play ball struggle, we now have some pictures of the Motorola DROID Bionic at the one place where you would expect the phone to be-a Verizon store.

It would have been great to see the price display with an official launch date, but perhaps that information will be on the next photograph! Oh yes, the third picture appears to be the Motorola webtop dock for the DROID Bionic.

While it just was made official moments ago by Sprint CEO Dan Hesse and Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha, we were able to snag some hands-on time with the 4G beast earlier this morning. For starters, the Motorola Photon 4G features a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage, an 8-megapixel camera, front-facing camera, and support for Motorola’s webtop solution, which will allow the phone to power a full Firefox browser on your HDTV.

As far the feel, the device is extremely solid and we’re loving the futuristic styling of the design, complete with angled corners. Also, the glossy bezel contrasts beautifully with the rubberized soft-touch case back. The phone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and felt incredibly snappy during the time we spent with it. The Motorola Photon 4G is scheduled to launch this summer, though pricing information has not yet been announced. Don’t let that get you down, though — we have a gallery full of hands-on photos below!

Motorola took the wraps off of the DROID BIONIC back during CES 2011, shortly thereafter announced that it had delayed the device until summer. Now, the first shots of the newly redesigned DROID BIONIC are beginning to surface. The images show the device has — what appears to be — a new version of Motorola’s MOTOBLUR user interface.

We assume most of the other specs remain the same: the phone clearly shows an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p video, it has a 4.3-inch qHD display, and support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Unfortunately there’s still no word on a possible release date, but let’s hope the BIONIC’s battery life is better than Verizon’s other 4G phones. Hit the jump for two more images.

There is nothing quite like leaks to flood the Internet these days where new and upcoming devices are concerned, and we do wonder at times whether these are just publicity stunts, or are they genuine fruits of industrial espionage. Well, for those who are looking forward to picking up the Motorola Droid 3, you would do well to take heed of a bunch of leaked tutorial videos that have been released, and all of them seem to have an official stamp from Verizon Wireless themselves.

There has been no official information concerning the Motorola Droid 3 as at press time, despite showing up from time to time via leaks, including several benchmark reports. Among the rumored specifications are the 1GHz OMAP 4430 CPU, a 4″ qHD resolution display, a front-facing and rear camera, as well as Android 2.3 Gingerbread right out of the box.

Some have touted the Droid 3 to be released at the beginning of Q3 this year, but nothign has been confirmed as of yet. Since the tutorial videos have been leaked, it does point towards said device being prepared for an almost immediate release, so stay tuned for an official announcement!

Sprint has just announced a new addition to its business oriented line of smartphones, the new Motorola XPRT Android smartphone. Claiming to be the first Android phone in Sprint’s line-up with enterprise class security features, the XPRT has global-roaming capabilities with a dual-mode CDMA/GSM chipset.

Similar to the DROID Pro that was released on Verizon Wireless last year, the XPRT features a 3.1-inch, HVGA touchscreen display with 480 x 320 pixels of resolution. It also has a full QWERTY keyboard and a 1GHz processor. It runs Android 2.2 Froyo and features Motorola’s custom MOTOBLUR interface. Adobe Flash 10 support is present as well.

The XPRT’s claim to fame is the 256-bit encryption and controls for data management. IT departments will have the ability to remotely handle enabling PIN or password lock, password recovery, and data wipe on both the phone and the SD card in the event the XPRT gets lost or stolen from the end-user.

The XPRT is also capable of roaming globally, and features a 5 megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash. Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n support are present as well. A large 1860mAh battery should power the XPRT through a whole day, though Sprint has not released any expected battery claims.

The Motorola XPRT is due to hit shelves on June 5, and will cost $129.99 with a new two-year agreement.

The Motorola Atrix is a pretty impressive device with its dual-core 1GHz processor and a beefy Tegra 2 chipset to boot. Even though it’s been out in the US as the ‘Atrix 4G’ for about a month it’s already technically showing it’s age as it was released with Android Froyo 2.2. What is more, the Atrix is hitting UK shelves in the next few days and as a new premium handset, Froyo just doesn’t cut it anymore. Even when going up against hardware-wise less capable devices such as the Xperia Arc who have come sporting Gingerbread as standard from day one.

To rectify this, Motorola’s VP of International Marketing, Andrew Morley confirmed, when asked if there were plans for the Atrix in the UK to receive a Gingerbread update with, “Yes, there are. We haven’t announced timings but we have announced plans for intentions”. This vague confirmation does promise a better start for the Atrix than previous Motorola handsets in Europe, which have seen poor/slow Android support in the past, especially in contrast to their more proactive US counterparts.

What is more, Morley hinted that we would be likely to receive both the US and UK updates simultaneously, almost unheard of for Motorola. So your Atrix or Atrix 4G depending on where your from should be getting a true taste of Gingerbread in the not too distant future.
