The leak comes courtesy of Solomondrin, the self professed “007 of the phone world“, by way of a single image of what it is claimed to be the BlackBerry 9780. Whilst the Bold heritage is undeniable, cold hard facts are fairly thin on the ground. What we do know is that this all new device will run BlackBerry 6 OS, a whopping 512MB of RAM (double that of the Bold 9700), and the usual smartphone additions such as 3G connectivity and Wi-Fi.

It’s also rumoured that the 9780 Bold will also get an upgraded camera, boosted from 3.15 to 5.0 Megapixels (much like the recently leaked Storm3) though there’s no concrete evidence to support this at present. No official word from BlackBerry as yet or any indication on the final product name (Bold 3 or Bold 9780?) but be sure to keep an eye on the Blog and we’ll be sure to update you as soon as we know more.

According to an article over on Electronista, BlackBerry Cool is also saying that there may well be a CDMA version of the BlackBerry 9800 for the Sprint network as well.

As for the BlackBerry 9800 hitting Europe well the word is that Vodafone is the most likely candidate and apparently “a source” claims the official schedule for the BlackBerry 9800 to hit Vodafone is sometime in September, although the general feeling is the device will likely ship in October.

Apparently according to the article, a Vodafone link also makes hints that there will possibly be a CDMA BlackBerry 9800 for Verizon Wireless as well, although the Big Red is expecting the BlackBerry Storm 3 in the not too distant future.

The Curve 8530 features a built-in GPS receiver than can be used for geo-tagging photos recorded with the phone’s 2-megapixel camera. Up to 10 email accounts can be configured on the 8530, and messages and images alike can be uploaded quickly over Metro PCS’s network or with local WiFi networks. A built-in microSD memory card slot is on-board for expandable memory that can provide support for music files that can be played with the phone’s media player. You can even use the phone with your favorite headphones, thanks to a convenient 3.5mm stereo headphone jack.

The BlackBerry Curve 8530 has support for the BlackBerry App World and full web browsing capabilities. Other features of note include an optical trackpad controller for navigation, voice dialing, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The new BlackBerry Curve 8530 is being offered on MetroPCS for $229.00 with unlimited talk, text, web and data service costing just $60 per month.

Ronen is reporting that it’s dual-mode CDMA/GSM, which would be a little weird given that the Bold 9650 came to Verizon and Sprint not that long ago. Maybe RIM’s making a few small tweaks to the 9700 so Sprint users can get BlackBerry OS 6 while AT&T enjoys it on the 9800 slider and Verizon on the 9670 clamshell. That’s mostly guesswork, though – an analyst thinks that the Onyx Delta is going to have a touchscreen, and the first mentions of the 9700a hinted at an AT&T release, so it’s really hard to tell what exactly this thing is.

Interestingly, Tata has pointed out that the device is India’s first CDMA device with optical trackpad and WiFi on-board. Other key features include the standard full QWERTY keyboard (of course), 2 megapixel camera with video, optical trackpad, WiFi, microSD expansion, Bluetooth, GPS, 3G and much more.

The phone’s sliding keyboard looks pretty usable and BlackBerry OS 6.0 seems promising. Last we heard, BlackBerry 9800 Slider came packing a HVGA display, 512MB RAM, WiFi 802.11n, 4GB of memory, a upgraded WebKit browser and an enhanced media player. SurePress will also be on board and the touchscreen mentioned before is a capacitive one.

The camera at the back might incorporate a 5 megapixel sensor, but that’s not been confirmed yet.

The handset pictured above is a Photoshop work that should portray the new device in some way. BlackBerry 9700a is expected in a couple of months and it’s most likely coming to AT&T first. Some say that the evolution from Bold 9000 to the 9700 wasn’t big enough, so novelty is required to revitalize the Bold series.

These updates are incremental and unexciting, but if RIM can keep the low cost that made the 8520 and 8530 Curve such a success, they will be setting a new baseline standard for BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) devices. It’s a shame that we’re still dealing with a QVGA display and no flash on the camera, but the cost savings that are pushed to the consumer right from launch will be significant. Besides, there are plenty of high-end BlackBerrys available; by the time the 9300 comes out, the 9800 slider and 9670 clamshell will be available to handle the demands of the upper tier.

Both GSM (9300) and CDMA (9330) versions are in the works, so you can expect to see this on most, if not all of the major U.S. carriers and abroad, although there aren’t any specifics available just yet. Too bad the Kepler’s kind of boring, but good on RIM for not fixing what ain’t broke.
