The Acer Iconia Smart features a 21:9 widescreen display, 4.8″ big with 1024×480 pixels resolution – now that’s downright impressive. Dolby surround sound technology enhances viewing movies even further.

The Iconia Smart runs Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread covered with the latest Acer UI version 4.0, also called “Breeze”. The whole thing is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon chipset, which has enough power to drive Flash 10.1 in the web browser.

There are two cameras – an 8MP main camera with LED flash and 720p video recording and a secondary 1.3MP camera for video calling.

The Acer Iconia Smart has a unibody metal casing and it will be available in Silver. A gyroscope and an accelerometer will enable high-precision motion-controlled gaming.

The Acer Liquid Metal showed up at Acer’s booths under a new name – the Acer Liquid mt. Nothing else has changed, just the name.

The Acer Liquid Mini also comes with a five megapixel camera, and it is powered by a 600MHz Qualcomm processor, and will have 512MB of RAM and ROM.

The Acer Liquid Mini will also come with a microSD card slot, with a 2GB card installed which can be upgraded to a 32GB microSD card. Other features include Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi and an FM radio.

There are no details as yet on how much the Acer Liquid Mini will retail for when it goes on sale in the UK in April.

As you may know from our previous post, we’re talking about an entry-level Android smartphone which prides itself with a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera, 600MHz processor, WiFi and HSDPA connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth, FM radio and a microSD expansion slot (supports memory cards of up to 32GB). Android 2.2 Froyo is running the show.

In other words, we think of the beTouch E140 as a perfect first Android smartphone, which packs all the connectivity options, location-based capabilities and just enough power to get you started.

Price was not announced, but we think it will most likely be around 150 GBP for an unlocked device — or starting from free with some monthly plan.

Finally, now that the UK market is “cleared,” I would expect to see Acer launching the device across other markets in Europe…

During a Press Conference in New York earlier this week, an Acer Official said that AT&T and T-Mobile  are considering launching the Acer Liquid Metal. These are two major GSM carriers in the USA, so maybe we will see this handset on AT&T or T-Mobile soon. Rogers Wireless is bringing the Acer Liquid Metal in Canada, so hopefully Rogers will launch it soon.

Acer Liquid Metal features the same 800 MHz powerful processor we saw in the T-Mobile G2. Other features are a 3.6-inch, WVGA (800 x 480) capacitive touch screen, Android OS 2.2, 5 megapixel camera with an LED Flash, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi b/g/n wireless connectivity, DLNA/UPnP support, and Dolby Surround Sound. The specs are very good overall, and the Acer Liquid Metal also has a stainless steel back cover, that’s why they call it Liquid “Metal“.

The only other player that’s even trying to compete in this space is Chinese manufacturer Huawei, who with their Ideos not only manages to deliver the same specifications for 50 Euros cheaper, but also got itself a deal with T-Mobile USA rebadged as the “Comet”. The race to the bottom, that is the bottom end of margins needed to keep a company profitable, is on thanks to Google and Qualcomm who have in essense removed many of the barriers that have held back many from entering the smartphone space.

Whether or not these cheap devices end up penetrating the Western World is irrelevant, for many people in Africa, Asia, India, China, they’re going to get either the beTouch E140 or Ideos and have internet in their pocket for the first time. The services are also not going to be powered by operators or traditional handset makers, but Google of all people. Does it now make sense why they entered the phone game and why Nokia is trying as hard as they can to enter the service arena?

The device is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, offers 6-axis motion sensing for gaming, and has an 8MP camera with LED flash. There’s also a secondary front-facing 2MP camera for video calling.

Acer’s new smartphone also offers HSDPA 14.4 connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n support, and Bluetooth 3.0. There’s even an HDMI port for outputting media to an HD TV.

The new device should be shipping globally beginning in April 2011.

The Liquid Metal also supports DLNA/UPnP technology for streaming media content to other DLNA devices, such as TVs and game consoles. Wi-Fi hotspot support is also included.

Acer also loaded Breeze on the Liquid Metal, a new user interface that helps users manage applications easier. You’ll be able to view information when the screen is locked, customize your homescreen, and more. A SocialJogger application integrates Facebook and Twitter feeds, too.

The Liquid Metal will be offered in brown for £299 ($476) in mid-November. A silver version is expected to hit the market in early December.

So what’s under the hood of this Ferrari? Acer Liquid E Ferrari comes with Android 2.1, Qualcomm 8250 Snapdragon processor, a 5 MP camera, and a 3.5-inch touchscreen, as well as some Ferrari-specific enhancements. There are also some exclusive features in the phone, like the Ferrari wallpapers which will rock on your homescreen, mind blowing images and some videos. There’s also some Ferrari-engine ringtones, which will remind of a Ferrari everytime your phone rings. It’s a unique and lightweight phone, and a must buy for folks who love Ferrari.

However, that hasn’t worried Acer in the slightest nor has it stopped them producing another Android touting handset, seemingly. This is the Acer Liquid Metal, which is said to be positioned somewhere in between the E and the Stream in the Liquid series. So, that’s likely to put it directly in contention with the likes of the HTC Wildfire which means that it had better have a pretty impressive spec list as well as a reasonable price tag if it wants even a glimmer of hope of establishing itself.

Looking at the specs we know so far, the Liquid Metal doesn’t look likely to disappoint, we’re talking an aluminium/metallic body, camera with flash, an 800 MHz Qualcomm processor, 512Mb RAM and 512 MB of ROM as well as a 3.7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display (WVGA resolution and support for 16m colours). There’s also said to be Bluetooth 3.0 and Dolby Mobile Technology. But, the real feather in the Liquid Metals cap? It’s said to be shipping with Android 2.2 Froyo albeit with Acer’s proprietary skin, Shell 4.0, on top. If it turns out that this handset also touts Wi-Fi, HSDPA and a resonable price tag, Acer could really be on to a winner.

The Smartphone is known as the Acer Stream and will be running under Google’s Android 2.1 otherwise known as Éclair operating system. It is expected to be available in the UK a little later than was first anticipated.

The Acer Stream is said to have high end features which include a range of multi media capabilities which will include watching movies, listening to your music and also web browsing.

Its design is elegant and also minimalist and made from highly resistant materials and offers users truly outstanding technical features. It has ultra fast connectivity 3G+ for streaming and HSDPA 7.2 Mbps in download. It also sports a 3.7 inch AMOLED touchscreen display with support for 1.67 million colours and WVGA resolution.
